The Story of LAWIB

Lake Area Women in Business (LAWIB) began its journey in May 2010 when a group of visionary women, initially members of the chamber, pondered the prospect of cultivating a vibrant community where women could eagerly anticipate meetings, forge new friendships, and foster beneficial connections to enhance their businesses. Acknowledging the broader appeal beyond Forest Lake, they launched LAWIB on May 21, 2010

From the outset, our mission has been to connect, empower, educate, and foster growth among women in business. Through the power of partnerships and a commitment to facilitating connections, LAWIB has been instrumental in uniting countless women over the years. Under the leadership of Heather Fine, our group transitioned to a private entity, recognizing the inherent strength and influence we possessed.

The challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic underscored the need for adaptability and innovation in maintaining our connections. Yet, despite these obstacles, we remained steadfast in our pursuit of the core principles established by our founding members.

In 2024, Allie Libersky took on the role as Director, leading LAWIB into a phase of revitalization. With an exceptional Board of Directors team we embarked on a journey of renewal, marked by a fresh logo and a reinvigorated commitment to our mission, vision, and motto. Committed to fostering a nurturing environment, we strive to empower women in business to thrive. Our new mission, vision, and motto serve as guiding lights as we pave the way for a future brimming with growth, support, and empowerment.
